4/9/2008: Last summer I launched a new Web site, www.Pittsburgh2050.com, with the help of my talented staff at Elliance, the Internet marketing company I started in Pittsburgh 15 years ago. Unlike most of our work, this Web site was not designed for a client. Instead, it was designed for the people of Pittsburgh to voice their dreams and visions about the future of the city. At the advent of Pittsburgh’s 250th anniversary, I wanted to look ahead and capture the imagination of the community. So www.Pittsburgh2050.com was born. The site is a work of love and has grown an increasingly large online following. It is a site for those who’ve always lived in Pittsburgh, as well as those, like myself, who moved here and fell in love with the city. It is a place for those who see that Pittsburgh still has room to grow and evolve, even on its 250th birthday. Please join the conversation, and let the world know what you want Pittsburgh to be like in the year 2050.

So much has changed on campus. The University Center is spectacular; a first-class facility that sure beats old Skibo from back in the day. Our student team members -- Vlad Loktev, Joy Ho, Dennisse Navas and Lauren Hoffman -- are exceptionally bright and made me proud to be a CMU alumnus. I found this to be a very rewarding way to give back to the school, and I hope I will be invited back next year. Submitted by: Daniel Skantar Class of: 1980
