Alumni Reception with Tepper School Professor Dr. Lester Lave on America's Energy Future Location: Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley, Building 23 Sponsored by the Tepper School of Business San Francisco Alumni Chapter Speaker: Dr. Lester B. Lave, Harry B. and James H. Higgins Professor of Economics and University Professor; Director, Carnegie Mellon Green Design Initiative; Co-Director, Carnegie Mellon Electricity Industry Center Join us for an informative and interactive discussion on America's Energy Future hosted by Tepper Professor, Dr. Lester B. Lave, on Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley campus in Mountain View, CA. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by Dr. Lave's presentation at 7:15 p.m. Dr. Lave will share the insights of the National Academy of Sciences Committee's report on America's Energy Future, just completed in July. He served on the panel on Energy Efficiency and has briefed Capital Hill staff, the Department of Energy and the White House, etc. Now he will brief our alumni community.Dr. Lave is the Harry B. and James H. Higgins Professor of Economics at the Tepper School of Business and a University Professor at Carnegie Mellon. He also serves as the Director of the Carnegie Mellon Green Design Initiative and as a Co-Director of the Carnegie Mellon Electricity Industry Center. In addition to being a professor of economics, He is also a professor of engineering and public policy. With expertise in economics and political economy, especially in environmental issues, Lave has special interest in applied economics, particularly identification and structuring public policy issues; deregulation of the electricity industry (market power, transmission, and ancillary services); environmental regulation; designing products and processes for the environment; nanotechnology; the value of information in testing toxic chemicals; rethinking regulation; automobile safety, emissions, and fuel economy; and pollution prevention. The event is being organized by the Tepper San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Chapter and all Carnegie Mellon alumni and their guests are invited.
