We look forward to a relaxing afternoon with you and the Tepper alumni community. The afternoon will begin at 1:00 p.m. and will include a buffet style lunch, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Seduction wine tasting, a winery tour, and a stroll through the beautiful vineyard. O'Brien Estate is owned by Bart and Barb O'Brien, who purchased the former Costello winery from John Costello in March 2000. Bart is a 1981 graduate from the Tepper School and a seasoned entrepreneur and inspirational leader who has been on the founding team of three companies; one which is growing successfully in a pre-IPO stage, another which was acquired for $250 million, and a third which went public with an initial market capitalization of $1.8 billion. The winery was built in 1978 and produces approximately 8,400 cases of Chardonnay annually. The winery is unusual in that it is entirely self-contained, with everything required to turn grapes into wine, including a bottling line. The family-owned vineyard produces a wonderful Chardonnay, a rich, voluptuous Merlot and the award-winning Seduction, a Bordeaux-style blend. The event is sponsored by the San Francisco Bay Area Alumni Chapter of the Tepper School of Business and open to all Carnegie Mellon alumni and their guests. We also have a special rate for Tepper School summer interns of $25.00. You are more than welcome to make it a day for your family. Often couples arrange an overnight stay at a nearby inn. Children under 16 years of age are free, however, we do ask that you RSVP for them so that we know how many to anticipate.
