Dr. Robert Mays

Dr. Mays received his Bachelor of Sciences from Carnegie Mellon in 1987. In 1994, Dr. Mays received his Ph.D. from Stanford University in Molecular and Cellular Physiology, and subsequently studied as a visiting scholar at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, the Weizmann Institute in Rehovot, Israel and as a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. Since co-founding Athersys in 1995, Dr. Mays has directed the drug discovery applications of Athersys' cell biological platform technologies. Currently, Dr. Mays is focused on the development of Athersys' novel human stem cell line MAPC, Multipotent Adult Progenitor Cell, and its applications in Regenerative Medicine and drug discovery.
