Alistair Rock is Managing Director and Principal for Renaissance Partners LLC ("Renaissance"). In this capacity, Mr. Rock has full P&L and operational responsibility for Renaissance, a boutique investment-banking and business advisory firm, and subsidiary of KWBH Law. Renaissance has over 20 years of experience and extensive knowledge managing corporate divestitures, acquisitions, re-capitalizations, roll-up strategies, management buy-outs, and mergers. Since inception Renaissance professionals have closed more than 500 deals, on five continents, representing over $6 billion. Such experience allows the group to support both public and privately held companies, as they implement strategic plans in this competitive global economy. Previous to his appointment as Managing Director, Mr. Rock was the President and Chief Executive Officer of eBDS, a 250 employee, national healthcare technology solutions provider, and subsidiary of Highmark Inc. an independent licensee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Highmark is one of the largest health insurers in the nation with 4.0 million customers in Pennsylvania, over 20 million customers nationwide, 20,000 employees, and annual revenue in excess of $13 billion. At Highmark, Mr. Rock was part of an 8 member Health Services executive leadership team that established the goals and direction for the Healthcare division; approximately 80% of the Highmark organization. In this role, Mr. Rock maintained full P&L accountability for all managerial activities of eBDS, whose mission was to be the leading national provider of technology enabled, smart solutions by creating an exceptional experience for health and benefit consumers. Previous to being C.E.O. Mr. Rock was Chief Financial Officer for eBDS, and Vice President of Health Services Operations for the parent company. Mr. Rock was also the Chief Integration Executive for eBDS and held responsibility for the smooth transition of the company into the Highmark portfolio. As V.P. Operations for Health Services he managed strategic projects and business development activities that related to the future transforming trends in the healthcare industry such as financial convergence, consumerism, and integrated care management. Specifically these responsibilities required the design, development and implementation of multi-million dollar strategic plans and corresponding M&A and business development activity to ensure that Highmark developed capabilities to meet the future needs of the healthcare industry. Mr. Rock also serves as Vice Chairman of The Board for The American Friends for the Phelophepa Train. The Board is chaired by Sharon Allen, Chairman of Deliotte LLC.
Prior to Highmark Mr. Rock worked for two British global conglomerates: The BOC Group PLC and Marconi PLC, formerly General Electric Company. Mr. Rock held a number of global executive positions with both organizations including Head of Global M&A and Business Development for Marconi Services, Head of North American Strategy and Marketing for Marconi Wireline Division, Head of Global Audit for BOC Gases America, Head of Global Audit for BOC Distribution Services, and Head of Global Commerce for BOC Speciality Gases. In executing these responsibilities Mr. Rock has had the opportunity to work on $40-45 Billion of deals in over 20 countries, and has learned much from globalization and the cultural diversity of the modern world.
Mr. Rock holds an undergraduate degree from Leicester University, UK, and a Masters in Business Administration (Finance, Strategy and Accounting) from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper Business School, where he was awarded the Marc and Sally Ornetto Graduate Fellowship for academic achievement. Mr. Rock was also sponsored and graduated through an Executive Management Program at Ashridge Business School in the U.K. attaining the highest ranking in the 360 assessment of top global managers.
Mr. Rock is an avid sportsman and has played representative level at golf, rugby, soccer, squash, and table tennis. In addition to being formally sponsored by Tarmac Construction to play table tennis, Mr. Rock also received university honors in rugby and represented Artisans Student Barbarians in the International Hong Kong Tens Tournament.
Mr. Rock is married to Kara Leialoha Rock, an alumnus from Boston University and former Director of Operations for Westfield Capital Management and R.G. Niederhoffer hedge funds. Alistair and Kara share two daughters, Bella Leialoha and Sienna Noelani, ages 6 and 4 years respectively and one boy Alistair Lawrence aged 1.
